Art Of Colonysing
And another thanks to Angel ^^
Protocol for moving into new territory :
Before moving colonies and fleets into fresh territory, these are the things you need to do:
1) Scout location
Look at systems at least 10-15 systems left and right of intended location.
Assess the threats. This includes:
A) enemies with big fleets
If found, assess how long they require to send their fastest fleets to you. This is your minimum fleetsave time. Double this time at least. This is also the time between intervals you should check in.
B) moons
If you see one, scan for phalanx. Chances are, if the moon is owned by a high rank, phalanx levels are at least 2-3 which is already 8 systems left and 8 systems right. Remember, they can always upgrade this at any time.
2) Colony placed
Once your new colony is in, leave it for a day to watch for activity. Put a few ships there. Small cargo and light fighters. Build up ur deut mines immediately and deploy probes there.
Use the probes to scan for potential targets if u want.
Determine where are your safe fleetsave planets. Eg alliance members or very low rank noobs. Its always good to know a few at varying distances so u can alter your fleetsaving times. If you have a moon nearby, rescan the moon for any changes in phalanx levels. Some players deconstruct phalanx levels to hide and when they see a potential target, they reconstruct. Also note if large targets have taken notice.
Single scans are often safe. Multiple scans usually means beware.
If the area is safe, move your fleet in.
How safe your fleet is in an area depends on two things:
1) potential enemies with fleets in area. This isnt necessarily big fleets. Smaller well organised multiple enemies can acs.
2) you fleetsave technique and your paranoia level. The more often u check in and the earlier u arrive before your fleet arrives gives you more options in case of attacks.
